He founded the dating service LunchDates in Boston in 1982 after getting divorced and experiencing the difficulties that adult singles face.
As Steve began interviewing and obtaining feedback from hundreds and then thousands of single men and women from all over New England, he realized that he was accumulating a great deal of information and insights about men and women and the traits they look for in a meaningful relationship.
Steve became a frequent speaker at various adult education programs, social and religious singles groups, rotary clubs, and business roundtables. He made regular guest appearances on radio and television talk shows, both locally and nationally. (In 1996 he appeared on NBC’s “Today Show.”) He was frequently quoted in local and national newspapers and magazines on a variety of subjects related to dating and relationships.
He co-hosted a weekly television program called “Personal Relationships,” and he hosted a weekly radio show titled “The Truth About Dating” .
In April, 2005 Steve sold his interest in LunchDates and moved from Lexington, MA to Stratham, NH with his second wife Sue, son Jes, daughter Alex, cocker spaniel Abby, and cat Tracey.
Prior to starting LunchDates, Steve worked as a planner, fund raiser, and proposal writer for the City of Boston, Brandeis University, and Education Development Center.
